Augusta University has officially transitioned from the Windows XP operating system to Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems for all institutionally owned computers.

On November 30, all institutionally owned computers still using Windows XP will be disabled from operating on the AU network.

While most Windows XP computers have already been replaced, a small number of Windows XP systems are still operating on the AU network. You can determine if your institutionally-owned computer is still using Windows XP by following the following simple steps:

  • Click Start Here
  • Right click My Computer
  • Select Propeties
  • Under System, you can tell which version of Windows your computer is running.

Please contact IT by phone if:

  1. If you find that your computer is still using Windows XP –> IT will dispatch a technician to assess the situation further and to initiate the replacement process, where applicable
  2. If your computer needs to continue using Windows XP due to equipment and/or software compatibility –> IT can request permission for you from the Information Security Office.
